چکیده

Water-soluble metal-binding polymers in combination with ultrafiltration are shown to be an effective method for selectively removing dilute actinide ions from acidic solutions of high ionic strength, The actinirte-binding properties of commercially available water-soluble polymers and several polymers which have been repotted in the literature were evrduated, The functional groups incorporated in the polymers were pyrrolidone, amine, oxime, and carboxylic, phosphoric, or sulfonic acid. The polymer containing phosphoric acid groups gave the best results with high distribution coefficients and concentration factors for 241Am(]II) ~d 238pu(III)/(IV) at pH 4 to 6 and ionic strengths of 0.1 to 4.

Measurement of Cadmium Ion in the Presence of Metal-Binding Biopolymers in Aqueous Sample

In aqueous environment, water-soluble polymers are effectively used to separate free metal ions from metal-polymer complexes. The feasibilities of four different analytical techniques, cadmium ion-selective electrode, dialysis sack, chelate disk cartridge, and ultrafiltration, in distinguishing biopolymer-bound and nonbound cadmium in aqueous samples were investigated. And two different biopoly...

Preparation of a Selective L-Phenylalanine Imprinted Polymer Implicated in Patients with Phenylketonuria

Abstract Background: Molecular imprinting is a method for synthesizing polymers with structure-selective adsorption properties with applications such as, selectivity binding, drug delivery systems and anti-bodies. The present study aims at optimizing the preparation of molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) against l-phenylalanine, in order to increase phenylalanine-binding in Enzymatic Intestinal...

Removal of Heavy Metal Ions from Mixed Solutions via Polymer-Enhanced Ultrafiltration using Starch as a Water-Soluble Biopolymer

In this study, aqueous solutions containing mixtures of heavy metals namely Zn (II), Pb (II), Cr (III), and Cr (VI) were treated by polymer-enhanced ultrafiltration (PEUF) using unmodified starch as binding biopolymer. The performance of starch in removing these heavy metals was compared with that of polyethylene glycol (PEG) a commonly used polymer in PEUF processes. Rejection coefficients and...
